19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge

Advanced ticket sales have now closed, but you can register for $30 the day of the event (Saturday, January 8) starting at 10:30am!
COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases in Washington County, we are putting several new precautions in place for Polar Bear 2022. Please read the following bullet points carefully!
- Please do not attend if you’re not feeling well, have any symptoms of COVID-19, or have recently been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
- In order to ensure the safety of all attendees, HSWC staff, and volunteers, masks will now be required at this event. Although the CDC does not currently require masks outdoors, safety is our top priority and masks will help us ensure a safe experience for all plungers and spectators. Social distancing is also encouraged.
- If you signed up as an in-person plunger but would now prefer to plunge virtually, you are welcome to do so! Just email Anna Somers at asomers@hswcmd.org to indicate you’d like to become a virtual plunger. Virtual plungers can pick up their t-shirts at HSWC between the hours of 10am and 6pm on Wednesday, January 5th or Thursday, January 6th.
- We encourage all plungers to print and fill out their liability forms ahead of time to reduce crowds at registration! Liability forms can be found HERE.
Polar Bear Plunge is BACK! Join us on Saturday, January 8, 2022 for our 19th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Greenbrier State Park! (Day of check-in and registration begins at 10:30am, and the plunge happens at noon!) Help us in our mission to provide care and find loving homes for the thousands of animals that come to HSWC each year. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Washington County!
Register by December 16th (new deadline!) and receive a Polar Bear Plunge long sleeve t-shirt! Reach one of these donation levels through fundraising or recruitment, and you will receive a small token of thanks. Incentives are awarded to individual fundraising goals and do not apply to team totals.

Interested in supporting the animals at HSWC but unable to attend this year's plunge in person? Become a virtual plunger! Virtual plungers who register by December 16th will receive an official Polar Bear Plunge long sleeved t-shirt, have access to helpful fundraising tools, and be eligible to earn the same incentive prizes as in-person plungers. Submit your virtual plunge video to HSWC via Facebook Messenger or to asomers@hswcmd.org by January 6th for your chance to win Most Creative Virtual Plunge!

Day of check-in and registration will be open from 10:30am to 11:45am. Prizes will be awarded at 11:45am for Best Individual Costume, Best Team Costume, Most Money Raised by an Individual, Most Money Raised by a Team, and Largest Team of Participants. The plunge is at noon sharp!
